School for advanced studies:
Castle Heights is designated as a School for Advanced Studies (SAS). This means that all of our teachers have had the additional training and professional development required to meet the needs of Gifted and High Achieving students. The SAS program is not run separately from the school as a whole, but rather it is integrated into the work done in every classroom, so that every child benefits from a more challenging learning experience. Children who have been designated as academically gifted, have additional learning opportunities throughout the year, including supplementary enrichment classes and field trips.
reflections:
Many Castle Heights students participate in the national PTA’s Reflections Art Contest, and we are proud that so many have won top honors! In 2015, Kayla Pincus and Clara Carter-Klaushie received awards and, in 2014, Ella Carter-Klauschie won 1st place in the choreography division for The World Garden, which she performed along with three Castle Heights classmates. Watch her award-winning dance.
rock stars:
Congratulations to Kaitlyn Marelli, Isabella Thomas, Bianca Lewis and Andres Martinez — AKA Neptune — for their 3rd place finish (out of 100 bands!) in STAR Education’s RockSTAR Battle of the Bands at the Wiltern Theater!
A CALIFORNIA DISTINGUISHED SCHOOL

Castle Heights is proud to have been recognized as a California Distinguished School, an award given by the California State Board of Education to public schools that best represent exemplary and quality educational programs. Approximately five percent of California schools are awarded this honor each year.
